ClearCorrect: Straighten Your Teeth
At one time, anyone who wanted to straighten their crooked teeth or move them to close gaps had to rely on metal braces to get the job done. For some, this solution meant two years or more of discomfort and embarrassment that wasn’t much better than the problem to be fixed.
Fortunately, other options have presented themselves over the years, and today Pier Dental in North Vancouver can help you straighten your teeth using ClearCorrect dental aligners.
ClearCorrect does not require the metal brackets and wires used in traditional braces. Instead, we will use a series of custom-made plastic aligners that fit directly over the teeth and gradually move them into the proper position.
What Are the Advantages of ClearCorrect?
ClearCorrect offers many advantages over traditional metal braces, including:
Nearly Invisible
ClearCorrect uses clear aligners that are so discrete that many people won’t even know that you are wearing them. Go out with friends and smile for pictures. No one will know that you are in the process of correcting your teeth.
They Are Removable
Having traditional braces means that you wear them 24/7 until their job is done. ClearCorrect dental aligners can be removed when you want, for any personal reason. Take them out and pop them back in easily.
More Convenient
Braces can be inconvenient and can impact your life in many ways. You need to be careful of the foods you eat, and certain activities like contact sports require that extra care be taken to avoid injury. The ability to remove ClearCorrect’s plastic aligners at will means that they can be removed when you want to play your favourite sport or eat your favourite foods. This also makes them easy to clean, taking them out to wash with soap and water or brush like normal teeth.
Easier to Clean Your Teeth
Not only are the dental aligners easy to clean, being able to remove them makes brushing and flossing your teeth easier.
Less Painful
Traditional braces can be painful, with bits of metal and wire causing irritation and abrasions on soft tissue in your mouth. ClearCorrect aligners, on the other hand, are made of a single, smooth piece that lacks wires, abutments, or anything else that would cause irritation. The aligners also guide your teeth into position in a more comfortable manner, applying just the right amount of pressure for proper realignment.
Fewer Dental Appointments Necessary
Braces require more frequent visits to adjust, but using clear aligners means that much of your treatment’s planning can be done upfront. You can bring home multiple sets of aligners and swap them out as you continue your treatment. When an appointment is necessary, it is often just to check that things are progressing as expected.

HOW DO CLEAR ALIGNERS WORK?
During the course of treatment, the patient is given a series of clear trays that fit over the teeth, each set of trays makes a slight adjustment to the position of the teeth until the desired result is achieved.
HOW LONG DOES THE PROCESS TAKE?
The length of treatment varies from patient to patient, but the average treatment length is approximately 12 months for adults.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER TREATMENT?
Some patients are recommended to wear a retainer after orthodontic treatment to ensure that teeth don’t return to their original position over time. Patients will need to consult with their dentist to determine if a retainer is required.
